Son of Baldwin: If You Read WONDER WOMAN #7, Then You Know Why You Should Stop Buying WONDER WOMAN

sonofbaldwin:

One finger pointing at the Amazons; three fingers pointing back at yourself.

Brian Azzarello may or may not be aware of this, it may or may not be intentional, but what he has done is made the Amazons literal scapegoats. He has cast all of the transgressions of the society he, himself,…

Power Girl has a new costume, and while writing about it for ComicsAlliance, I noticed that it looks an awful lot like Supreme, the Liefeld-created Superman analogue that Alan Moore wrote for a few years.

See, they would have been better off giving her long sleeves.

"

Avengers Academy is where the Avengers want to put the young mutants of Utopia when hostilities break out. They take them into custody and house them at the one facility they know that can handle an infusion of super-powered kids. It’s a bit like Child Protective Services: ‘You’re not under arrest, you haven’t done anything wrong, this if for your own good—but you can’t leave.’

Needless to say, there are plenty of folks who are none too happy with this turn of events. And if bringing them to Avengers Academy is intended to keep them out of trouble, it doesn’t quite work out that way.

Okay, who else thinks this is how Magneto (who, let’s face it, seems have a fuzzy recollection of some events) remembers the twins going to the Avengers? As Captain America taking his children away.

So you know the contraception blow-up, where the ultra-conservatives are aghast that they might have to pay indirectly (through the employees, because these church-run orgs aren’t actually paying for healthcare, rather signing off on it?) for birth control as part of the insurance plans?

Girl in Four Colors: Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics: On DC Comics' Nielsen Surveys

girlinfourcolors:

Yesterday, DC Comics published the results of the Nielsen survey they conducted of comics readers last year:

  • The launch of DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 galvanized the traditional fan base for superhero comic books: male readers, who were already—or have at one time been—comic book fans.

(This list will be forever in-progress. Please add on as you see fit).

  • Challenge sexist jokes, such as dumb blonde jokes or jokes about rape.

"America is a super power not because we make the biggest guns. We’re a superpower because our culture has saturated the planet: Levis, Apple, Nike, Disney, Coke, Pepsi, McDonald’s, Jazz, Rhythm n Blues, Rock ‘n Roll, and Hip Hop. Our culture dominates the world far more than any nuclear bomb can. When you can make a person think a certain way, you don’t have to bomb them. Just give them some credit cards, a wide screen 3D TV, some potato chips, and watch what happens. This kind of cultural war, a war of propaganda and words, elements that both Hollywood and Washington know a lot about, makes America powerful beyond measure.” ~James McBride"
